George Muñoz, MD
George Muñoz, MD, is a board-certified rheumatologist and internist. He completed his clinical fellowship in rheumatology/immunology at the Harvard Medical School affiliates, The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine founded by Andrew Weil. He is a recipient of the center’s Jones Lovell Rheumatology Scholar Award (2006-2008) and the first integrative rheumatology fellow recipient of this prestigious award in the United States. Dr. Muñoz is a national and global speaker and book author and coeditor in the Weil Medical Library. He is the Program Director for Miami Larkin Hospital Rheumatology Community Fellowship program, training the next generation of rheumatologists in both conventional and all person approaches to rheumatic care. As an integrative medicine specialist holding multiple certifications in integrative modalities, he is passionate about the topic of physician and provider self-care and burn out prevention, which are threats to our national and global rheumatology work force. His experience as a Team Physician in Division 1 athletics for over 30 years (University of Miami Hurricanes and Florida International University), allows him to leverage his knowledge of sports, athletics, training principles, and injury prevention for his patients and trainees as part of their whole person self-care. Finally, decades of training and execution in stress reduction techniques, mind body interventions and the use of diet and customized dietary regimens with appropriate nutraceutical supplementation creates a customized value-based care approach for both patients, physicians, and practitioners in chronic care and burnout prevention models.
