Timothy F. Lazarek, NP

Nurse Practitioner, Cabrillo Center for Rheumatic Disease, San Diego, CA

Timothy received his undergraduate degree in Nursing from Niagara University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University – Dominguez Hills with his Master’s degree-Nurse Practitioner certification. His interest in rheumatology, autoimmune and rare disease peaked while employed as a Registered Nurse at Duke University Medical Center Intensive Care Unit. He has twenty-four years of experience as a rheumatology Nurse Practitioner and is currently practicing at Cabrillo Center for Rheumatic Diseases, a community rheumatology specialty practice in San Diego, CA. Timothy utilizes musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic purposes and guided intra-articular injections. He is also responsible for in office biologic infusions and is a sub-investigator for clinical research studies for numerous pharmaceutical companies.

He is a member of Rheumatology Advanced Practice Providers/American College of Rheumatology, Rheumatology Nurses Society, Association of Rheumatology Professionals, American College of Nurse Practitioners, and the California Association of Nurse Practitioners. Timothy is often consulted for his expertise in inflammatory joint diseases. He stresses the importance of early referral and patient education, leading to improved adherence to therapy and patient outcomes, especially for patients with spondyloarthropathies and inflammatory joint diseases.
