At UCB, we welcome not just the best and brightest, but those who care about making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients. We believe in working together asONE UCBto deliver impactful solutions. We inspire a culture of inclusion by providing equitable opportunities to all employees, embracing diverse talents, and leveraging diversity of thought and experience to create value for patients, now and into the future.
Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) is foundational to our sustainability approach. We define diversity as the accumulated richness of people’s unique backgrounds, lives, cultural experiences, and the diversity of thought that this brings to our work. Equity means ensuring all employees are offered fair opportunities for development, advancement, compensation, and reward. And finally, inclusion means respecting individual differences and capturing the advantages that this provides to drive greater impact and value in our work.
Our Global DE&I Strategic Framework
Our U.S. DE&I Strategic Framework
Expanding our DE&I competency and capacity through foundational learning and application.
Engaging employees, shareholders, patients, and networks in the creation of patient value through employee resource groups (ERGs) and the Diversity Council.
Accelerate our DE&I data and analytics to evolve intentional and accountable DE&I practices.
"We are prioritizing DE&I foundational learning and application, engaging employees through our employee resource groups, and leveraging our DE&I insights to inform the evolution of our DE&I practices." - Tonya Adams, U.S. DE&I Lead
At UCB, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are open to all employees, whether they are members of the community in which the ERG focuses, have a connection to that community, or want to serve as allies of the group. ERGs aim to foster inclusion and support among employees and advocate for their community both within and outside of UCB through education, mentorship opportunities, career development, and more.
Commitments to DE&I in the Workplace and Across Our Industry
We are committed to fostering workplace development, diversity, and inclusion (WDDI) and are dedicated to being at the forefront of efforts to develop a diverse and talented workforce. To that end, we affirmatively support the WDDI Principles adopted by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and pledge to do our part to foster diversity and inclusion among our employees, customers, and patients. The BIO principles are available here: https://www.bio.org/diversity.
We are committed to working toward a clinical trials infrastructure that addresses health disparities and closes the gap in clinical trial diversity to better reflect the intended treatment population. To that end, we support PhRMA’s clinical trial diversity principles and ongoing industry work to drive equity and improve health care outcomes for all patients. The PhRMA principles are available here: http://phrma.org/equity
We remain committed to living our Patient Value Principles to respect all people and to embrace diversity of thought, experience, and background. At UCB, we do not tolerate racism and racial injustice in any form.
