Duane Barnes
President, UCB, Inc. and Head, U.S. Operations
Duane Barnes is President, UCB, Inc. and Head of U.S. Patient Value Operations, overseeing operational activities in the United States, including market access, corporate affairs, operational excellence, ecosystem engagement, and medical operations. He works across functions and across the healthcare ecosystem to improve access and find new ways to deliver value to patients.
Prior to joining UCB, Duane was vice president and general manager at Amgen. There he was responsible for managed markets, pricing, contracting, government price reporting, account management, payer strategy, and access marketing for the U.S. portfolio. He was also responsible for field reimbursement strategy and execution across all U.S. payers.
Duane has experience across the healthcare and biopharmaceutical industries having served as the Chief Operating Officer at Prime Therapeutics as well as in leadership roles at Aetna, Medco Health Solutions, and Quest Diagnostics. He also has experience outside the industry having served as a senior manager of operations at FedEx.
Outside of UCB, Duane sits on the board of the National Association of Specialty Pharmacies (NASP) and on the editorial board of 'Specialty Pharmacy Times.' He previously served on the board for the Pharmacy Care Management Association (PCMA) and the Asembia Specialty Network.
Duane holds an MBA in strategic management and a master of science in global supply chain from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He received his B.A. from West Virginia University. He enjoys traveling, hiking, and backpacking with his family.
