UCB Welcomes First Class of Virtual Interns

Despite the unprecedented events stemming from the novel coronavirus, we are pleased to continue our mission of investing in the next generation of the work force by welcoming 18 student interns to our first virtual internship program.

During their internship, students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and UCB while participating in numerous projects throughout UCB. Unlike any prior intern class, the 2020 class must deliver a high level of resiliency as they embark on their journey of contributing to UCB’s mission of creating value for patients through our new ways of remote working.

To ensure that we are being efficient during a time of remote working, UCB has successfully launched digital tools like Microsoft Teams to create a sense of togetherness and enable maximum productivity. Tools such as Teams and Adobe Connect allowed for virtual face-to-face meetings, training, and even large events. Most importantly, technology is allowing our new interns to start their UCB internship experience without delay. Last month, UCB interns got to know their team and the company structure through their virtual orientation and first town hall experience.

Throughout the program, UCB will host interns who will apply their knowledge and acquire skills in the following areas: data analytics, finance decision analytics, sales operations, communications, medical writing, real-world evidence epidemiology, gene therapy, contracts & pricing, corporate affairs, internal operations, ethics & compliance, and business analytics. UCB interns will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with employees within and outside of their department, and to develop leadership, communication, and networking skills. Interns will also experience UCB’s culture and commitment to creating value for patients.

We look forward to welcoming the best and brightest students from North Carolina State University, The University of Texas at Dallas, Harvard University, The University of Alabama, Kennesaw State University, Mercer University, Appalachian State University, Rutgers University, The University of Southern California, The University of Richmond, Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Louisiana State University. We are confident that each interns contributions will further enhance our mission to develop impactful solutions that patients’ value.
