  • The First UCB US Rare Disease Connect in Neurology (RDCN) Annual Summit Launches at American Academy of Neurology 2025

UCB is proud to host its inaugural US Rare Disease Connect in Neurology (RDCN) Annual Summit at the 2025 American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting to provide a forum for needs-driven medical education for the generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) community. This event is being held exclusively for healthcare providers who are involved in patient care.

RDCN is an ongoing learning program connecting a community of experts committed to delivering excellence for people living with gMG. The RDCN network is expanding in the US specifically, with the goal to foster collaboration for comprehensive gMG care.

The summit, titled “Connecting Minds, Changing Lives: Collaborating for Comprehensive gMG Care,” is held in partnership with an esteemed Leadership Council, including James F. Howard, Jr., MD, FAAN, Said R. Beydoun, MD, FAAN, Jon P. Durrani, DO, Dr. Miriam L. Freimer, MD, and Deena M. Rodney, MSN, APRN, ATC, AQH.

The inspiration for the US summit started during last fall’s Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) Scientific Session at the 2024 American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) Annual Meeting when Dr. Howard gave an oral presentation which highlighted the lack of robustly designed ongoing education for the myasthenia gravis medical community. His findings demonstrated the importance and value of developing needs-driven medical education for healthcare providers and its potential impact on their clinical practice.

Attendees of this event can look forward to interest-based networking, compelling case studies, and engaging discussions on key topics in gMG. They will also dive deep into the lived experience with gMG from the patient’s perspective, examining the often underrecognized impacts of fatigue, mental health, and exercise/nutrition.
