UCB and BlackDoctor.org Bring Nation’s Top Health Equity Leaders Together to Discuss Access Issues in Third Annual Health Equity Expo

WHAT/WHY
UCB, partnering with BlackDoctor.org (BDO), will bring together a group of diverse voices and leaders from across the healthcare, social justice, and academic sectors in the Third Annual Health Equity Expo. Civil Rights Advocate and Global Humanitarian Martin Luther King III (MLK III), will deliver keynote remarks on the intersection of health equity and social justice, emphasizing the need to address the root causes of health disparities to ensure equitable access to care for historically underserved populations and communities.

Convening these experts to examine the complex issues surrounding health equity will facilitate thought-provoking discussions on how the healthcare industry and public and private partners can work together to reduce health disparities, diversify clinical trials and improve health outcomes, featuring leaders from both academia and industry, notably:

  • MLK III will discuss lessons from the past and needs of the future, speaking to his belief that “healthcare is and will always be a human right”
  • Epilepsy access barriers for Black & Hispanic women living in Georgia with Morehouse School of Medicine’s Rakale Quarells, PhD, Associate Director of the Prevention Research Center and Professor
  • Disparities in underserved populations with MLK III, Dr. Quarells and BlackDoctor.org’s CEO Reggie Ware
  • Access from clinical trials through commercialization with Walgreens Boots Alliance, Kendal Whitlock, MPH, Head of Digital Optimization
  • Representing the patient perspective, Seth Ginsberg, Co-Founder and President, Global Healthy Living Foundation and Tiffaney Renfro, Sr. Associate Director of Programs, Emory University Rollins School of Public Health

Aligned to UCB’s mission to improve patient health outcomes, the Health Equity Expo reflects the company’s deep commitment to understanding and addressing health disparities, while also working alongside the community and supporting underserved populations.
